Quick Overview
Marcello 'The Boar' Vercelli grew up in Playa Del Rey, California, the next town over from Venice. At the age of 12, Vercelli was heavily motivated and influence by the Z Boyz. In the late 70's he was skating Marina Del Rey Skate Park down the street from his hosue everyday. No school, just surfing and skating all day long. Influenced by Jay Adams, Jimmy Plumer, Billy Yuron, Polar Bear, Shogo Kubo, Tony Alva and George Wilson. "What I witnessed from watching them skate gave me insane skate motivation". As punk rock came around he shortly became one of the O.G. Suicidal Boyz Venice Punx, and hanging out with Jay Adams alot took Vercelli's surf - skate abilities to a whole new level. In the 80's riding for Z-Flex he was and is extremely proud to be represending Z-Flex 3rd Generation.
For the last 35 years, Z-Flex has been home to some of the most iconic skateboard art of all time. More specifically, the original Z-Flex Animal series has been credited as the first graphic based skateboards, paving the way for many of the skateboard series you see today.
To celebrate its anniversary, Z-Flex will once again flew their influence by releasing the highly anticipated 2012 Animal series. The Original team of Jimmy "The Rat" Plumer, George "Gator" Wilson, Jim " The Dog" Davey, Eric "Froggy" Andersen and Marcello "The Boar" Vercelli will be featured alongside Dennis "Polar Bear" Agnew. Measuring 9.75" x 32", each complete features 7 ply Canadian Hard Rock Maple, fully dipped graphics and shredded die cut grip. These super hot boards come with 6 1/4" powder coated Z-Flex trucks complemented by 90A Z-Pro Wheels and Abec 7 Z-Speed bearings.
These boards were developed to inspire and to recall a time in which skateboarding was a revelation, and this latest edition to the Z-Flex range is a must for any skateboard collector.
